Powergrip jaws are the most powerful jaw set in the range, specifically designed for large and heavy projects. They are used as a multi-purpose, heavy duty, jaw set for bowl turners and are perfect for green, unseasoned and bark covered turning. In compression mode a series of six internally machined grooves powerfully grip the round tenon of a bowl blank on diameters between 100mm and 80mm. In expansion mode the 15° back tapered jaws will grip bowl blank recesses from 95mm to 115mm in diameter.
These powergrip jaws are machined from a special grade of medium-tensile steel, which is normally used for the manufacture of high performance turbo impellors, pistons and gears. Using this steel allows for closer tolerances during the manufacturing process which results in excellent concentricity to minimize vibration and to ensure that a chatter-free, super fine finish can be achieved by the woodturner. ©
